Here's what brutally killed an Iranian general and brought the world to the brink of war

24 Hours

Iranian General Kasem Suleimani, who survived many assassination attempts, was killed by laser-guided Hellfire rockets fired from a nearly silent drone by the US MQ-9 Reaper.

The attack was carried out without consulting Congress, and the Americans did not even say their Western allies. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the attack was based on an intelligence assessment aimed at saving American lives in the region amid reports that Suleiman was actively planning many of the attacks.

It was because of these reports that Donald Trump decided to order the attack immediately without consulting his allies.

The powerful general was under almost constant surveillance, and when he landed at Baghdad airport on a flight from Syria, he was greeted by Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of paramilitary units operating in Iraq with Iranian support.

The videos show that the cars were immediately destroyed. Iranian authorities have reported that ten people have been killed and General Suleimani identified by the distinctive ring he always wore.

Local military commander Abu Muntather al Hussaini said the car in which the Suleimans was hit by two rockets and the car that followed them was one.

A large explosion is seen in the footage of the attack, and the remnants of the car suggest that the rockets were struck by the impact of a completely ground vehicle. The Pentagon declined to release details of the attack
